Celestica has established the largest Aerospace and Defense EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) organization in the industry that serves several Avionics OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturer) in areas such as joint design and manufacturing (JDM), design for manufacturing, value engineering and test optimization.

We continue to expand our services offerings to include avionics design to specification for electronic circuit card assemblies, printed circuit boards, mechanical assemblies, enclosures, turnkey platforms, and support projects over the entire design lifecycle from specification to qualification and certification.  These design projects could be for both defense and commercial aerospace applications.

We are looking for an Aviation/Aerospace Program Manager who has experience as a subject matter expert in avionics designs and supporting engineering pursuits in collaboration with the sales and business development organizations.  This position would then lead to successful engineering engagement with customers, definition of engineering service opportunities, induction of requests for information/proposal (RFI/RFP), evaluation of project requirements and assumptions with internal and external engineering teams, generation of technical responses and value propositions, and pursuit follow through leading to successful win rate of these avionics and electromechanical pursuit engagements.
 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics, Software, or Aerospace Engineering

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in technical engineering field

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in airborne electronic hardware and software development and testing

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading integrated teams from various internal and external organizations

  • Background in generating key technical proposals, business cases, and value proposition for design projects

  • Proven negotiation skills and experience defining Firm Fixed Price (FFP) assumptions and dependencies

  • Knowledge of requirements capture and traceability environments

  • Experience with avionics design processes and tools to achieve commercial airworthinesscertification

  • Knowledge of processes and equipment used for systems, printed circuit boards and subassemblies

  • Practical experience meeting industry standards for hardware and software certification.

  • Knowledge of certification airworthiness standards and means to meet objective and gain authority approval

  • Ability to effectively organize, manage and motivate team members from a wide variety of departments and geographies with a diverse group of skill sets

  • Experienced use of Microsoft project management tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project

  • 25-50% Travel required


Primary Responsibilities

  • Technical leader on engineering bid and proposal activities. Review statements of work (SOWs) and ensure the adequacy between the established technical requirements and the proposed engineering solutions.

  • Serve as the technical interface with customers on matters involving engineering capabilities and abilities to provide successful engineering of customer design and airworthiness and certification requirements.

  • Define the technical value proposition for proposals and lead the creation of technical narrative including solution description, diagrams, pictures and supporting documents.

  • Coordinate with other departments on appropriate contractual terms and conditions pertaining to design engagements.

  • Lead the definition and discussion of safety, compliance or technical deficiencies with project stakeholders.

  • Work collaboratively with engineering teams to address work breakdown structure (WBS), schedule definition, design assumptions and issues as required.

  • Create airborne certification plans for design projects by applying the regulations, standards, and aeronautical procedures required to meet certification objectives.

  • Work with supply chain and engineering to identify alternative designs reducing product complexity and costs.

  • Support execution teams as a subject matter expert (SME) in technical reviews, problems solving activities, PDR, CDR, customer and certification audits to ensure successful realization and acceptance of design artifacts.

  • Collaborate and contribute to the evolution of the A&D design engineering roadmap.

  • Actively seek new business opportunities in coordination with Business Development. Build effective long term relationships with critical OEM engineering teams to build credibility for Celestica as a design solutions partner.

Job Location

This position will be operating out of the Atrenne Computing Solutions division of Celestica, located in the Boston, MA area. Atrenne is a US ITAR facility; all employees must be US citizens or permanent legal residents.
