Position Description

The Director of Operations will oversee all Facilities Production, Planning, Purchasing, Materials, Process Engineering, Test Labs and Maintenance through direct report Managers.  This position assumes responsibility for manufacturing, facilities and grounds, maintenance, safety and security, capital projects, regulatory agencies, freight, as well as Corporate compliance with various initiatives.
 

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university with 10-15 years related experience in a manufacturing environment. MBA desirable. Leadership, conflict management, business negotiation, organization, Lean Manufacturing continuous improvement and decision making skills required. Experience serving as liaison between division and corporate office preferred. Microsoft project management tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project), along with ERP, and other database software knowledge required.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Oversees all Facilities Production, Planning, Purchasing, Materials, Process Engineering and Maintenance by:

            a.    Ensuring that the Departments are adequately staffed with properly trained personnel.

            b.   Making or approving decisions for Department employees regarding employment,

                  performance ratings, promotions, salary recommendations, transfers and terminations.

            c.   Resolving personnel problems, particularly those of a more complex nature.

            d.   Guiding and advising subordinates in the more complex phases of work.

            e.   Preparing an annual budget and operating within the established cost controls.

             f.   Coordinating annual cost savings projects.

            g.   Coordinating activities between Departments.

2.         Responsible for meeting the company’s shipping plan.

3.         Responsible, as part of the Senior Management Team to meet the annual profit plan.

4.         Responsible for overall inventory accuracy and compliance.

5.          Responsible for capital expenditures for Facilities; all new tooling and new machinery acquisitions.

6.          Represents the company in interactions with many regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DEP, City/State).

7.          Sets company strategy and long-term objectives as member of Management Team.

8.         Expected to drive a culture of continuous improvement.

9.          Liaison to Corporate as it pertains to Operational objectives and compliance
