Summary
This position is responsible for the assembly of wires and connectors to form cable harnesses used in electrical and electronic equipment or systems.
Requirements/Responsibilities:
- Reads instructions, such as work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly.
- Assembles cables/harnesses according to blueprint specifications.
- Selects wires of specified color, marking, or length, and loops wires between guide pegs on harness board, following color-coded lines or sequential numbers on board or diagram.
- Wraps and ties wires together at designated points to form harness, manually or using tie-wrap gun.
- Attach ends of wires to components, plugs, or terminal strip, using soldering iron or crimping device.
- Mark identifying data on completed harness.
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with 5 – 7 years related cable/harness assembly, blueprint/schematic reading and fine component soldering experience. IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certifications preferred along with familiarity working in an AS9100 certified environment.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a firm grasp of the English language with good oral communication skills. Computer database look-up and entry skills preferred to review assembly documentation.
