VITA 90 VNX+ is an emerging small-form-factor modular computing architecture designed for SWaP-C2-constrained defense and aerospace systems. This Atrenne white paper examines the VNX+ family of standards, including its mechanical, electrical, thermal, and system-level characteristics, and how the architecture advances beyond VITA 74 while retaining many of the performance advantages associated with OpenVPX.
The paper also explores VNX+ alignment with the SOSA® Technical Standard, high-bandwidth interconnects, power and thermal management, and the role of modular open architectures in next-generation embedded computing. Potential applications include UAVs, sensor pods, ground vehicles, missiles, satellites, and edge AI systems where space, weight, power, cost, and cooling are critical design constraints.
Learn how VITA 90 VNX+ can provide a scalable, rugged computing foundation for emerging defense and aerospace platforms.
Explore Atrenne’s 726 Series VITA 90 VNX+ Small Form Factor Chassis to see how the architecture can be applied in a rugged deployable system.
